The Religious Right is often criticized for its hypocrisy and bigotry, but devout conservative Christians are also often dismissed for their faith altogether. The prominent idea within leftist politics that religion and belief is for the weak (of mind, of body, of spirit) has resulted in a profound underestimation of the Religious Right's spiritual power and efficacy in contemporary American life. 

The reality is that, speaking as someone who was raised in it, and stayed in it (and got married in it) in my early 20s, the Religious Right in this country has kept, cultivated, and passed down extraordinary magical traditions in this country.
